Why get your first degree Reiki attunement?

Healing with the energy emmanating from our hands is a natural expression.  Think of what you do when you stub your toe?  You grab hold of it for a moment.  Or if your jaw aches, you hold it in your hand?  When a friend is in sorrow, we lay a hand on their back in support.  Reiki grows out of this natural instinct. 

So why do we get specific Reiki "attunements?"  I like to say that is allows the divine energy, or chi or ki, to flow through us, without depleting our personal reserve. 

You don't have to invest a lot of time or money to get a Reiki begining class, with the first degree attunement.  If you search your local paper or craigslist, you will probably find someone who is a Master and is offering the beginning class near you.

Reiki: Touching One Cancer Patient at a Time 

Recently traditional healthcare professionals and programs have started to treat cancer in a new way, incorporating alternative therapies with regular methods of treatment in order to promote healing. The recognition that traditional medicine is not the only answer to relieve the suffering of the disease and the side effects of treatment, has opened new doors for patients to receive therapies such as Reiki, sometimes within hospital settings or at a patient’s bedside, while undergoing usual cancer treatment. Reiki is a very interesting and calming procedure utilized by trained practitioners, and causes no side effects or harm to the patient.

 Freeing Energy Fields

Reiki promotes overall wellness and healing by a practitioner placing his or her hands above the patient’s body and transmitting the life force energy to the person. The theory behind the practice is that Reiki uses the body’s own fields of energy to heal diseases and maintain health. It is believed by some that when the energy field is disrupted by a blockage, whether emotional, mental or physical, it causes illness of either physical or emotional in nature. Reiki therapy moves the field of energy to get it flowing in the correct direction. Removing the blockage allows the body to accelerate healing.

Reiki and Cancer 

When a person is diagnosed with cancer, their whole life turns in a heart-racing panic attack. All the mixed emotions and being unsure of what’s to come, can block energy fields and actually prevent healing. The side effects of conventional cancer therapies can also make a patient stressed and depressed, making it harder to overcome the battle. Chemotherapy has a number of side effects including nausea, fatigue, weakness and other debilitating symptoms. In addition to the physical discomfort, patients in hospital settings or in outpatient chemotherapy treatment experience anxiety, stress, and sleeplessness, added to the pain they may already be suffering.  

Many cancer patients are introduced to Reiki therapy in hospitals. Many doctors and nurses that aid patients with shot life-expectancy-cancers, like phyllodes tumors, pancreatic cancer, or mesothelioma, actually recommend reiki or other natural therapies to compliment conventional treatments. Several hospitals are even offering Reiki to cancer patients for free and if not, interested patients should consult their healthcare provider for a recommendation or referral for Reiki therapy.

Though there is not much scientific evidence proving that reiki has healing abilities, clinical trials have recorded patients claiming to feel less pain and a better sense of well-being after reiki sessions. Proponents of Reiki therapy and patients report the side effects of chemotherapy are greatly relieved after a practitioner performs therapy sessions. Patients tell of feelings of calm, peaceful relaxation as well as reduction of pain and the symptoms of chemotherapy.

I am trained (attuned) in Usui Reiki first degree from Shelia King since 2008 and second degree from Lorelynn Mirage Cardo, Ph.D.since 2009 , which includes emotional healing and distance Reiki. What to expect in a Reiki session
The client is fully clothed and either lies on a massage table or sits in a chair. The practitioner uses hand placements either on or above the body. The practitioner is the tool through which the energy flows and the energy goes to those places in the body that need it. After a session, the client usually feels relaxed and meditative.

Clairvoyance:  During Reiki, I often see animal totems and images of past lives, see past reading sample.

Diamond Reiki:  a healer with Kundalini attunement will have an etheric diamond place in their crown chakra through which their Reiki healing energy will flow, taking on the diamond's properties, strengthening the healing energy.

Guardian Angel Reiki: Angel Reiki combines Reiki and the Angels. The Angels are called upon to assist with healing. Angels are both manifesters of God and personifications of that power. "This is Eileen Dey on behalf of Expert Village and in this segment we'll talk about Reiki for space clearing. Reiki is an amazing tool for clearing one's house, room, office. When there's stagnant energy, bringing Reiki to it allows it to disburse. One is able to do that by simply using their own presence as a Reiki channel as well as allowing their hands to fill with lights and to direct the light into the corners of the room, into the ceiling, into the floor. Reiki for space clearing, it's easy and able to be done anywhere and so in the example of the office, after a meeting or before a meeting, infusing the room full of light transcends what can occur. Communications and decision making often come out for the highest good. Reiki is about bringing light into a space and filling it with radiance."

"Connection: Using a floor plan of the home the Space Clearer will create a unique physical space by tuning into a specific higher connection. This is usually done using Reiki and provides a safe and nurturing environment for the clearing to take place.

Energy Sensing: Going through the entire home the Space Clearer will sense the energetic imprints on walls, corners, beds, etc. This is an important part of the ceremony because a lot of information about the energetic buildup, or the feelings and emotions stored in the energy field of your home or office, are collected. It will identify any areas where the energy is very stagnant and may require additional work.

Smudging: Starting upstairs, repeating the path through the home, the Space Clearer uses white sage (a native American Indian cleanser) to smudge all areas of every room. Corners, cupboards, around edges are all smugded to remove any stale or stuck energy. This will enable the flow of energy to move smoothly through the home.

Bell Sounds: After the energies have been put into motion, another walk around the home is completed with bells. Two Balinese temple bells are used to create a pleasant harmony. The sound never ceases from the beginning to the end of the walk around the home. Particles of stagnant energy, astral fragments or perverse energy cannot withstand the sound of the bells. All are shattered and the frequency of the energy is increased to a higher vibration similar to that of a ceremonial temple consecration.

Sealing: The energy in the home is now very clean and needs to be sealed in. The client will now formulate his intentions, wishes and dreams into thought and this is included in the last part of the ceremony, ensuring the imprint in the home is now one of harmony and love. Crystals are programmed with these intentions and left in every room.

What is an Aurashield? The best analogy I can give will be from Star Trek or some similar Science Fiction story, what protection does most spaceships in these stories have? Force fields! Your aura consists of pure energy, the trick is to make your aura into a "force field" that does not let in any negative energies or leak out any of your energy. As in all Reiki practice it is your intention that counts. If you want you aura to stop negative energies it will!
Shields up! - Make your own Aurashield!
Here is how you do it:

When you feel you need to protect yourself just visualize that the outer edge of you aura goes hard like a force field covering you from head to foot. Nothing can get in and nothing can get out. I suggest that you mentally decide on a word or command that instantly will trigger your intention of putting up your shield. "Shields up" is one suggestion. For me it is the name of the Reiki Power symbol, I might even draw it or visualize it. In my Aurashield I have included that any negative energy directed at me should bounce back to the sender as positive energy. This can make many conflicts easier. Experiment and see what works for you."
